The 2-day card at What Cheer, Iowa was filled with multiple wins for Iowa drivers.

Saturday (8/14) Adam Hauser started his win streak in race six, two-year-old pacing fillies.  Driving for trainer Joel McDanel, Hauser picked up the lines on Huntress.  Leaving smartly from the two-hole, Huntress wasted no time in taking the lead.  Cutting the mile in 31.3, 1:05 and 1:36, Huntress was up by a head, keeping Lil Char (James Gould) and Yvette Yankee (Cory Larson) parked going into the last turn.  With a burst down the stretch, Huntress crossed the finish line in 2:04.4, with a last quarter in 28.4, to pick up her third win in a row.

In race nine, the Iowa four-year-old and older trot, Passion In Paris also had the two-hole.  Hauser handily took command of the race and didn’t look back.  Trotting in 31.3, 1:04.4 and 1:34.2, Passion In Paris was up by over two lengths at the top of the stretch.  Trotting home in 29.4, Hauser picked up his second win of the day.  Passion In Paris also scored her third win in a row, trotting in 2:04.1 for owner/trainer Justin Anfinson.

Hauser’s next win came in race eleven with Broadway Teresa, whom he trains.  As the two-year-old trotting filly left from the rail, Hauser settled her into the pocket behind SV Soxy’s Girl (Royal Roland).  Pulling past the half, Broadway Teresa took the lead.  As the horses neared the wire, Broadway Teresa held off SV Soxy’s Girl, picking up the win in 2:11.1.

The last race on the card, Hauser-trained Spector’s Springer drew the six-hole in race thirteen for two-year-old trotters.  Not wasting any time when the gate folded, Hauser urged Spector’s Springer to the front.  Setting the fractions in 33.3, 1:07.3 and 1:39.3, Spector’s Springer was up by twelve lengths as he turned for home.  Trotting a last quarter in 32.2, Hauser and Spector’s Springer claimed the win, her mile in 2:12 flat.

Sunday (8/15) at What Cheer saw Chad Svendsen and Will Roland pick up four wins each.  Svendsen started off his win streak with the first three races on the card.  In race one for three-year-old pacing fillies, Svendsen and May Day Maggie got away second behind Marced Debutante (Cory Larson).  Tracking on the rail, May Day Maggie waited out the dueling pace between Marced Debutante and Almost Karen (Will Roland).  As horses spread out in the stretch, May Day Maggie charged from third to first, crossing the wire in 1:58.3.

In race two, three-year-old trotting fillies took the track.  Airman’s Kisses and Svendsen had the rail and took advantage of the post-position.  Trotting in 32.2, 1:06 and 1:36.2, Airman’s Kisses held a tight lead over Operation Shipley (Royal Roland).  Battling down the lane, Airman’s Kisses picked up Svendsen’s second win by a neck, in 2:06.2.

In the first division of three-year-old colt pacers, Svendsen had the assignment on Imoutthedoor from post position four.  Easing up into second, Imoutthedoor waited until the half to make a move.  Sprinting to take the lead, Imoutthedoor took over and led the field around the last turn.  As the wire neared, Svendsen and Imoutthedoor secured the victory, pacing in 1:57.4 last quarter in 30.4.

Race five for three-year-old pacing fillies saw Will Roland’s first win on the card.  Roland decided that the race was on when Welltheraceison left from the rail.  Pacing the mile in 31, 1:03.3, and 1:33.2 it was all Welltheraceison turning for home.  Charging across the wire, last quarter in 28.4, Roland and Welltheraceison decided the race, her mile in 2:02.1 for trainer Curtis Carey.

Svendsen’s next win came in race eight, the second division of three-year-old trotting colts.  Rick Huffman trained, Searching For You and Svendsen didn’t search for long as they took the lead straight from the gate.  Setting the fractions in 29.3, 1:01 and 1:31.2, Searching For You was in complete command, leading by twelve lengths.  All alone as they crossed the line, Searching For You found Svendsen’s fourth win of the day, trotting in 2:04.2.

Curtis Carey and Will Roland teamed up to secure the next three wins for Roland.  In race nine, the first division of Iowa four-year-old and older pacers, Roland and Minnie Vinnie had the rail.  Letting It’s A Marcs World (Royal Roland) take the lead, Minnie Vinnie settled into second.  Roland made his move past the half to take over the lead.  Holding off all challengers, Minnie Vinnie scored the victory, pacing in 1:57.1 for Roland’s second win.

Up next in race eleven, the second division of Iowa four-year-old and older pacers, Nat A Cam got away second from the five hole.  Roland let It’s Pacific Time (Chad Svendsen) cut the mile, waiting to make his move down the lane.  With her head in front, Nat A Cam paced home for the win in 1:58 flat, giving Roland his third win of the day.

In the last race, Roland and That’s My Leroy paced into third as the race started.  Pulling to the outside, That’s My Leroy made his way to the top as they reached the three-quarter pole.  Still with plenty of pace, That’s My Leroy captured the win in 2:02.3 and Roland took his fourth winning drive.

Iowa harness racing resumes on Saturday (8/21) and Sunday (8/22) at Humboldt, Iowa.  Post times for both days are 12:30pm CDT.
