With the rain postponing Saturday’s races to Sunday (7/6) at Humboldt, Bro Oak had to wait an extra day to try to get his fourth win in a row on the season.
Drawing the two-hole in race one, featuring 3 Year Old Iowa Registered Trotting Colts/Geldings, Rob Anderson was given the driving assignment. As the gate folded, Bro Oak made a brush to the front, with Royal Comet (Gary Liles) sitting in the pocket.
Making the top, Bro Oak led the field around the track, cutting the mile in 30.1, 1:01.4 and 1:32.2. As he rounded the final turn, Bro Oak held a length lead over Royal Comet. Charging down the lane, Bro Oak maintained his lead, refusing to let challengers make any ground. Crossing the wire in 2:02.2, Bro Oak not only captured the win, trotted the fastest mile for three-year-old trotters and was awarded the blanket, celebrating the Glenn & Lorraine Jenson Memorial Trot.
Iowa harness racing resumes on Friday (7/11) for three days of racing at What Cheer. Post time for all three days is scheduled for 12:30pm CST.
