Jackpot Jessie started the week for Iowa graduates, racing at Northfield Park from the rail in the fourth race on Tuesday (5/17).  With Chris Lems in the bike, Jackpot Jessie got away third as they raced to the quarter-pole.  Third at the half, Jackpot Jessie made up ground to second at the three-quarters.  Still second as they turned for home, Jackpot Jessie sprinted for the finish line.  With a last quarter in 29.4, Jackpot Jessie hit the jackpot for the win, racing in 1:54.4.

 

At Running Aces, it was the Iowa trifecta in race two.  As the gate folded, Princeofthefield (Adam Hauser) charged to the top from the seven-hole, with CR Promise To You (Rick Magee) parked third.  As they reached the half, CR Promise To You took command.  Behind the field, Need More Cowbell was stalking the leaders, making up ground from seventh to second as they reached the top of the lane.  Stride for stride, Need More Cowbell and CR Promise To You fought for the wire.  Race time in 2:00.3, Need More Cowbell took the win, with CR Promise To You hitting the board for place.  With a breaker at the wire, Princeofthefield was placed third to complete the trifecta.

 

Horses from Iowa breeders also dominated the board in race three.  SB Bodacious (Rick Magee) left on a mission from the six-hole.  Cutting the mile in 28.0, 56.4 and 1:25.4, SB Bodacious was up by a head over Frewil Dakota Sven (Dean Magee) with He Grins Again (Luke Plano) a close third.  As they hit the finish line, SB Bodacious was the winner in 1:54.1, with He Grins Again second and Frewil Dakota Sven third.  Marktentwentyseven (Brady Jenson) was a close fourth for the Iowa superfecta!

 

May Day Maggie (Nick Roland) competed in race six from the five-hole.  Getting away third, May Day Maggie was shuffled back to fifth as they passed the half.  Pulling to the outside, May Day Maggie was caught in traffic and was seventh at the top of the lane.  With a valiant effort, May Day Maggie paced her last quarter in 29.2 to grab third place, her mile in 1:57.2.

 

On Wednesday (5/18) Marc In The Box (Allan Davis) drew post-position five in race eight at Harrington Raceway.  With a quick brush to the front, Marc In The Box set the pace.  Quarter in 28 flat, half in 57.1, he led the field to the three-quarter-pole in 1:26.0.  Looking for the finish line, Marc In The Box crossed the wire for place by less than a length, his mile in 1:54.3.

 

Over at Rosecroft Raceway, SVF Cash Deposit (John Wagner) had the three-hole in race seven.  Fourth at the quarter, fifth at the half, SVF Cash Deposit was back up to fourth at the three-quarters.  With the first two horses noses apart, SVF Cash Deposit fell in behind the leaders to hit the board for show, trotting his mile in 1:55.0.

 

At Running Aces on Thursday (5/19), Just B Talking (Dean Magee) got the perfect trip from the two hole in the opener.  Sitting second around the track, it was a full on battle for the finish line with Villa For Rent (Lemoyne Svendsen).  With only a head separating the leaders in the photo, Just B Talking captured second, pacing in 1:56.1.

 

In race four, Supreme Dumpling (Brady Jenson) also drew the two-hole.  Second at the quarter, Jenson was not happy to sit behind the leader.  Out to take over, Supreme Dumpling led the field around the track to the top of the lane.  It was another photo finish to determine the winner, with Supreme Dumpling coming in second, her mile in 1:57.4.

 

Jenson’s next ride came in race five on Always Choose Chip, from post-position three.  This time taking the pocket trip, Always Choose Chip was still second as they turned for home.  Last quarter in 28.3, Always Choose Chip held on for place, her mile in 1:54.3.

 

Shesureissomething (Rick Magee) was assigned the four-hole in race six, the Fillies & Mares Open Handicap.  As the gate opened, Shesureissomething drifted into fourth.  Waiting until past the half, Shesureissomething pulled to make a move toward the front.  Second at the top of the stretch, Shesureissomething was photoed out of the win, finishing second by a neck in 1:54.4 for owners Alan and Cheryl Sandbulte.

 

Sandbulte’s Give Me This Dance (Nick Roland) was up in the next race, the 3-Year-Old Open, with the four-hole.  Sitting second the majority of the mile, it was a three-way dash for the finish line.  Beaten by a third of a length, Give Me This Dance picked up a third place check, mile in 1:55.4.

 

In race eight, Brooklyn Moonshine (Luke Plano) left from the five-hole on a mission.  Cutting the fractions in 27.4, 57.4 and 1:27.1, Brooklyn Moonshine was up by over a length as they raced around the last turn.  Driving home in 29.3, it was all Brooklyn Moonshine for the win, pacing in 1:56.4.

 

Shining Jewels (Aaron Johnston) had the three-hole in race seven at The Meadows.  Tracking mid-pack, Shining Jewels was fifth until the half-way point.  Still fifth at the top of the lane, Shining Jewels charged towards the finish line.  Racing in 1:54.4, Shining Jewels got up for third place for Aimes Racing.

 

Friday (5/20) at Buffalo Raceway, CR Blazin Beauty (David McNeight III) took to the track in race seven, the Open Trot.  Drawing the three-hole, CR Blazin Beauty trotted out of the starting gate to take up third position as they raced around the track.  Pulling past at the three-quarter, CR Blazin Beauty gained ground, second as they rounded the last turn.  Trotting across the wire in 1:59 flat, CR Blazin Beauty was second by less than a length.

 

On Saturday (5/21) at Buffalo Raceway, My Money Honey (Kyle Cummings) had the rail in the opener, the Open Pace II.  Leading horses around the track in 29.2, 58.1 and 1:57.2, My Money Honey charged for the wire.  In a three way photo, My Money Honey finished third by a neck, pacing in 1:56 flat.

 

Jumping Jillybean (Billy Davis Jr) also had the rail in race fifteen at Northfield Park.  Asked to leave, Jumping Jillybean fought for the lead and was parked to the quarter.  Clearing, Jumping Jillybean led the field to the half in 57.2 and was still up by a nose at the three-quarter pole in 1:25.4.  Relinquishing the lead, Jumping Jillybean held on to a second place finish, her mile in 1:55.3.

 

At The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono race six, Western Waltz (Braxton Boyd) got away third from the five-hole.  Still third as they reached the stretch, Western Waltz charged to the finish line to be placed second in a dead-heat, pacing in 1:53.0.

Sunday (5/22) in the opener, the first division of  3-Year-Old Open Trot, at Running Aces, CR Promise To You (Rick Magee) went straight to the front from the four-hole.  Cutting the mile in 29.0, 1:00.3 and 1:30.2.  Trotting from behind, Need More Cowbell (Daniel Roland) was steadily making up strides from being parked fourth at the quarter to sitting in the leader’s back as they reached the top of the lane.  In full gear, Need More Cowbell hit the wire for the win, with CR Promise To You finishing second for the Iowa exacta!

 

The second 3-Year-Old Open Trot was held in race three.  Vickie’s Vacation (Nick Roland) left from the four-hole to take command.  Quarters in 29.4, 1:01.3 and 1:32.4, Vickie’s Vacation had competition from Scroll On By (Anthony Kerwood) as they turned for home.  Racing in tandem, they crossed the finish line together.  Winning by a head, Vickie’s Vacation returned to the winner’s circle for owners Jeralene Roland and Vickie Rush, her mile in 2:00.4.

 

Spunkytown (Mark Mintun) showed up in race five, drawing post-position four.  With the pocket trip, Spunkytown sat second until the final turn.  With less than a length between the top three horses, Spunkytown got up for third, her mile in 1:59.0.

 

Marced Magic (Dean Magee) had the rail in the last race.  Third at the quarter, Marced Magic took over the lead at the half.  Still leading as they raced for the finish line, Marced Magic hit the board for place, his mile in 1:55.1.
