Iowa Horses Represent on Championship Day at Aces

Monday (9/28) at The Meadows, leaving from the rail in race eleven, Oh Toodles (Dan Rawlings) let the speed horses duel it out, sitting patiently in fourth.  As the horses raced past the half, Oh Toodles pulled to the outside. Sill parked, Oh Toodles gained a short lead as they passed the three-quarter-pole.  At the top of the stretch, Oh Toodles poured it on, winning by over 12 lengths in a blistering time of 1:53.3, last quarter in 28.4.

 

At The Meadows on Tuesday (9/29), in race two, Bankn-On-Emily (Chris Shaw) settled into fifth as the gate folded.  Sitting in position, she waited until past the half to make a move.  Parked at the three-quarter-pole, Bankn-On-Emily trotted a last quarter in 29.4 to finish second, her mile in 1:57.0.

 

Always B Hanny competed in the next race.  With post position six, driver Dave Palone drove hard out of the gate, parking Always B Hanny fourth, then third to the half.  Clearing, Always B Hanny made a charge at the leader. Finishing second by a head, Always B Hanny came home in 29.3, her mile in 1:55.1.

 

Driver Jim Pantaleano picked up the lines for Brianna’s Shadow in race seven.  As the horses left the gate, Brianna’s Shadow burst from the eight hole, parked to the quarter.  Capturing the front, she led the field to the top of the stretch.  Holding on for second, Brianna’s Shadow paced in 1:56.1, last quarter in 29.1.

 

Over at Yonkers Raceway, Cyclone Maximus drew the rail in race four.  Getting away third, Cyclone Maximus (George Brennan) pulled past the quarter, only to remain parked third until past the three- quarter-pole.  Fifth at the top of the stretch, Cyclone Maximus trotted his last quarter in 30.1, rallying to a third place finish.

 

Second place finishes for three Iowa graduates happened at Running Aces on Wednesday (9/30).  In race one, CR Blaze (Nick Roland) trotted out of the gate, sitting second behind the leader Nordic Thunder (Gary Magee).  At the half, Pridecrest (Lemoyne Svendsen) pulled, sitting parked beside CR Blaze.  As horse hit the stretch, CR Blaze found room, placing second for owner Rick Huffman, her mile in 1:59.0.

 

Bunkerhill Jill paced a good mile in race seven.  Getting away second from the four-hole, Bunkerhill Jill (Braxton Boyd)  was buried on the rail as horses doubled up on the outside.  Fifth at the top of the stretch, Bunkerhill Jill paced her last quarter in 29.3 to gain second, her mile in 1:56.1.

 

In race eight, Brady Jenson and Marktentwentyseven took up sixth as the race started.  Not happy seeing the rest of the field, Jenson pulled, making his way up on the outside. Sitting second when  they rounded the last turn, Marktentwentyseven paced home in 29.0, hitting the board in second place for owner Larry Jenson, his mile in a blistering 1:54.1.

 

In the Filly and Mare Open at Yonkers Raceway on Thursday (10/1), Snobbytown had the unfortunate draw of the eight-hole.  Blasting from the gate, Snobbytown (George Brennan) shot to the lead.  Cutting the mile inn  27.2, 57.3, 1:24.4, Snobbytown held on for second by a length, her mile paced in 1:53.2.

 

On Minnesota Championship Saturday (10/3) at Running Aces, Iowa horses looked to make a statement.  In race one, It’s So Fluffy (Nick Roland) picked up a nice third place finish in the two-year-old filly trot.  It’s So Fluffy trotted her mile in 2:02.2 for owner Kennedy Roland.

 

Two-year-old colt and gelding trotters were up next in race two.  Rush To The Bank (NIck Roland) and Ice Titan (Lemoyne Svednsen) battled for the lead as they left the gate.  Gaining full control as they past the quarter, Rush To The Bank trotted to the finish line.  Returning to the winner’s circle victorious for owners Jeri Roland and Vickie Rush, Rush To The Bank raced his mile in 2:02.2, taking the win by just over a length.

 

Race three featured two-year-old pacing fillies.  Brooklyn Windup (Brady Jenson) left from the seven-hole, taking the top.  After being pushed back in traffic, Brooklyn Windup paced from fifth to hit the board with a third place finish for owners Brady Jenson and Christopher Manatt.

 

In race four, Aged Trotting Mares, Al Mar Bonbon (Brady Jenson) got away fourth from post position four.  Sitting parked fourth for more than half of the mile, Al Mar Bonbon scored third, trotting her mile in 1:58.3 for owner Cara Hauser.

 

Next up was the three-year-old trotting colts and geldings in race five.  Lone Star Tap (Brandon Jenson) floated out to sit second behind the leader, Hearduwhispermynam (Rick Magee).  Getting the perfect trip, Lone Star Tap did not let a break in stride by the leader impede his progress.  Taking over the lead at the top of the stretch, Lone Star Tap and Sd Eliminator (Brian Detgen) trotted in tandem towards the wire.  With a head in front, Lone Star Tap crossed the line for the win.  Trotting in 1:59.1, for owner Nancy Jenson, Lone Star Tap lit up the board, paying  $44.40 to win, $11.80 to place and $11.80 to show.

 

Its Pacific Time drew post position three in race eight, three-year-old pacing fillies.  With Rick Magee in the bike, Its Pacific Time was in full command of the race.  With fractions of 27.1, 57.3, 1:26.4, Its Pacific Time paced her last quarter in 28 flat.  With her wire to wire win, for owner John Hendricks, Its Pacific Time’s mile went in 1:54.4.

 

Race nine belonged to three-year-old pacing colts and geldings.  Nick Roland and Its A Marcs World drove hard out of the gate.  Parked second to the quarter, Its A Marcs World charged on to take the lead.  With Bunkerhill Phil (Braxten Boyd) sitting in his back, Its A Marcs World kept the lead as they rounded the last turn.  Crossing the finish line in 1:55.2, Its A Marcs World captured the win for owner Duane Roland.

Aged Pacing Mares took the track in race eleven.  Bertha Vanation dominated the field from the start.  Cutting the mile in 28.2, 58.1, 1:27.0, Bertha Vanation and driver Nick Roland cruised to victory in 1:56.1.  Lakota Law hit the board for third, her mile in 1:56.2.

 

 

Aged Pacing Horses and Geldings competed in race twelve.  Marktentwentyseven (Brady Jenson) had a tough trip, getting away fifth, then pacing parked until the stretch.  Making up ground, Marktentwentyseven paced his last quarter in 28.2, for a third place finish of owner Larry Jenson.

 

The Van Otterloo Stables also had a great day.  With Shes A Showstopper (Jacob Cutting) taking the win in race three, Hufalookatdatfacy (Lemoyne Svendsen) getting a third in race eight, Nothinbutagoodtime (Darrell Wright) also getting a third in race nine and Stuckey Dote for the win in race twelve. Iowa owned horses represented well on Minnesota Championship Day.

 

Sunday (10/4) featured the Minnesota Consolation Races at Running Aces.  Marced Debutante (Nick Roland) and Maze (Brady Jenson) drew the one and two holes, respectively in race one, two-year-old pacing filly consolation.  As the starting car pulled away, Marced Debutante took the lead, with Maze sitting in the pocket.  Setting the pace in 28.4, 58.4, 1:29.2, Marced Debutante went gate to wire in 1:58.1 for owners Cory and Katelyn Larson.  Maze finished second by  just over a length, her mile in 1:58.3 for owner Bernard Nanke.
