Double Edition

In this double issue of the Graduate Report, we start at The Meadows on Monday (11/30)/  Wx Dontworryboutit (Brady Brown) left from the four-hole in race six.  Sprinting out of the gate, Wx Dontworryboutit had the perfect trip.  Sitting second the whole mile, Wx Dontworryboutit paced a last quarter in 30.1 to take second, mile in 1:56.2.

 

Tuesday (12/1), Jackpot Jessie drew post position five in race 6 at The Meadows.  As horses left the gate, Jackpot Jessie (Brian Zendt) paced up into second.  Still second as they passed the half, Jackpot Jessie got pushed back to fifth as they rounded the three-quarter pole.  Making up ground, Jackpot Jessie crossed the finish line in third, her mile in  1:57.4.

 

On Wednesday (12/3) at Yonkers Raceway, it was all Battle Queen in race two.  Leaving from post position four, Battle Queen (Joe Bongiorno) quickly drove for the front.  Cutting the mile in 28.3, 59.0, and 1:28.1, Battle Queen was up by two as she topped the stretch.  With a last quarter in 29.4, Battle Queen trotted to victory in 1:58.0.

 

At Harrah’s Philadelphia, a trio of Iowa grads raced on Friday (12/4).  Here Comes Teddy (Anthony Morgan) drew the three-hole in race seven.  Getting away fourth, Here Comes Teddy pulled out to challenge the leader as they passed the half.  Parked second at the three-quarters, Here Comes Teddy placed second in 1:54.4.

 

Shining Jewels (Anthony Morgan) left from the six-hole in race nine.  As a speed duel progressed on the front, Shining Jewels stayed the course.  Pacing her mile in 1:57 flat, Shining Jewels hit the board for third for Aimes Racing.

 

Later in the evening, SV Tymal’s Image (Anthony Morgan) drew the rail in race thirteen.  Trotting away in second, SV Tymal’s Image had the pocket trip around the track.  With a solid mile in 2:01.1, SV Tymal’s Image picked up a second for Aimes Racing.

 

On the west coast, Jennie Ann started from the four-hole in the opener at Cal-Expo.  As the gate folded, Jennie Ann (James Kennedy) got away towards the back of the field in fifth.  Still fifth at the three-quarter pole, Jennie Ann pulled to make her move.  Moving up to second as they rounded the final turn, Jennie Ann turned it on as she raced towards the wire.  With a last quarter in a blistering 27.4, Jennie Ann put the field away.  Returning victorious to the winner’s circle for Robbie Anderson, Jennie Ann paced her mile in 1:58.0.

 

Marc Mellow Man (Nick Roland) competed from the five-hole in race six.  With all sorts of traffic trouble, Marc Mellow Man managed to get up for third, his mile in 1:56.3 for owners Duane and Connie Roland.

 

Brooklyn Moonshine (Luke Plano) also picked up a third place in race seven.  With a brutal trip out of the eight-hole, Brooklyn Moonshine cut the mile, to be beaten by four lengths, her mile in 1:56.3.

 

Saturday (12/5) Always B Hanny tried her luck at Northfield Park.  As they started race four, Always B Hanny (Eric Tharps Jr) and Model (Aaron Merriman) hooked up, matching stride for stride around the track.  Parked the entire mile, Always B Hanny showed heart and took over as they raced toward the finish line.  With a last quarter in 30.4, Always B Hanny took the win in 1:55.1.

 

Back to California, Marced Magic drew the five-hole in the first race.  With James Kennedy on the bike, they got away sixth as the gate folded.  Making a move to the outside, Marced Magic went from fifth at the half to take over the lead as he reached the three-quarters.  Still on top as they turned for home, Marced Magic paced his last quarter in 27.3 to cross the wire for the win, his mile in 1:53.2.

 

Cal’s Hope (Lemoyne Svendsen) competed in race four.  Setting the pace in 29.0, 59.1 and 1:28.0, Cal’s Hope was beaten by a length, placing second in 1:57 flat for owner Roger Roland.

 

Bizys Beatle put in a good performance in race five.  Bizys Beatle (Nick Roland) sat sixth from the six-hole until past the half.  Charging hard down the lane, Bizys Beatle paced his last quarter in 27.4 to hit the board for third, paying a whopping $13.60 to show!

 

On Sunday (12/6) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, Frisky Pedro took no prisoners in race eight.  Leaving from the four-hole, Frisky Pedro (Dexter Dunn) pushed to gate out of his way to take command.  Cutting the mile in 27.4, 56.0, and 1:23.4, Frisky Pedro cruised to victory in 1:52.4.

 

The second half of our double edition starts on Monday (12/7), again at The Meadows.  In the opener, My Money Honey (Dan Rawlings) got away fifth from the rail.  Pushed back to seventh at the top of the stretch, My Money Honey found another gear as the wire drew near.  Pacing home in 29.0, My Money Honey placed second, by a neck, in 1:55.2.

 

Later, in race nine, Lone Star Tap had to leave from the other rail, the eight-hole.  Charging hard for the lead, Lone Star Tap (Dave Palone) settled into second past the quarter.  Sitting in position for the rest of the mile, Lone Star Tap secured a second place finish, in 1:57.2.

 

On Tuesday (12/8) Iowa horses were all over the program at The Meadows.  In race one, DP Rocket (Brady Brown) left from the rail.  Fourth until the half, DP Rocket pulled, parked third at the three-quarters.  Crossing the wire in 1:56.3, DP Rocket finished second, by three-quarters of a length.

 

In race five, Jackpot Jessie (Brian Zendt) got away second from the two-hole.  Second most of the mile, Jackpot Jessie hit the board for third, her mile in 1:57.2.

 

Supreme Dumpling (Tony Hall), Brianna’s Shadow (Brady Brown) and Glorynhonorforever (Jim Pantaleano) competed in race eleven.  With the one, two and five holes respectively, Iowa grads lined up behind the gate.  As the race went underway, Glorynhonorforever left to take the pocket, while Brianna’s Shadow sat behind in third and Supreme Dumpling tracked in fifth.  As they rounded towards home, Supreme Dumpling worked her way up to third as they topped the stretch, with Glorynhonorforever just ahead in second.  With a quick 29.2 last quarter, Supreme Dumpling crossed over the line for second, in 1:55.2.  Glorynhonorforever held on for third, her mile in 1:55.3 for owners Royal and Barbara Roland, and Brianna’s Shadow picked up a fourth place check.

 

At Batavia Downs on Wednesday (12/9), CR Blazin Beauty was on fire in race nine.  Trotting out of the four-hole, CR Blazin Beauty (Ray Fisher Jr) was in complete control.  Fractions set in 28.2, 59.0 and 1:27.4, CR Blazin Beauty trotted to victory in 1:59.1.

 

On Thursday (12/10) Andover Super Bowl competed at Harrah’s Philadelphia in race eleven.  With a perfect trip behind Winnie The Goo (Todd McCarthy) Andover Super Bowl (Anthony Morgan) trotted home to second place, in 2:00.3 for Aimes Racing.

 

Over at Yonkers Raceway, Battle Queen (Joe Bongiorno) drew the five-hole in race two.  Asked to leave, Battle Queen cut the mile, trotting in 29.3, 59.1 and 1:58.1.  Still up by a nose as they turned for home, Battle Queen trotted in second, her mile in 1:59.3.

 

Back to Harrah’s Philadelphia on Friday (12/11), Shining Jewels (Anthony Morgan) had post position two in race six.  As the starter folded the gate, Shining Jewels left on a mission.  First at the quarter in 27.1, taking them to the half in 57.1, Shining Jewels was still on top at the three-quarters in 1:26 flat.  Leading the field by a length at the stretch, Shining Jewels paced down the lane to cross the wire first by a quarter of a length.  Returning to the winner’s circle for Amies Racing, Shining Jewels paced in 1:55.1 for the win.

 

At Cal Expo, Cal’s Hope (Lemoyne Svendsen) toughed it out from the six-hole.  Sitting third most of the mile, Cal’s Hope paced to the wire in 1:58.3 for second place for owner Roger Roland.

 

Saturday (12/12) at Northfield Park, Always B Hanny (Eric Tharps Jr) competed again in the Progressive Claiming Series Fillies & Mares, racing for a $12,500 purse.  Not hampered with the seven-hole, Tharps drove Always B Hanny out of the gate, getting her parked second until the stretch.  Still having pace, Always B Hanny took over, crossing the wire for the win, in 1:55.4 and a last quarter in 29 flat.

 

Jennie Ann competed in  race two at Cal Expo.  Leaving from the rail, Jennie Ann (James Kennedy) paced out for the lead.  With a little traffic trouble at the quarter, Jennie Ann cut the mile in 29.3, 59.3 and 1:28.3.  As they neared the wire, Jennie Ann crossed second, but was placed first due to a disqualification.

 

Flash Me Baby also was into race on Saturday at Cal Expo.  Leaving from the ten-hole in race seven, Flash Me Baby (James Kennedy) wasted no time in taking the lead.  Setting the pace in 28.2, 58.3, 1:27.4, Flash Me Baby was beaten at the wire by a length, holding on for second place for owners Rick Huffman and Larry Mather.

 

Race nine saw Brooklyn Moonshine take the track.  Parked to the lead from the four-hole, Brooklyn Moonshine (Luke Plano) settled into second as they approached the half.  Still stalking in second, Brooklyn Moonshine battled Relentless Dancer (Doug Chappell) down the lane.  Sticking a nose in front, it was Brooklyn Moonshine for the win, pacing in 1:55.3.

 

Frewil Dakota Sven (John Chappell) paced a good mile in race ten.  Holding on for third, Frewil Dakota Sven paced a nice mile in 1:56 flat, last quarter in 28.3.

 

The big race of the week goes to Slippin The Clutch at The Big M!  Drawing the seven-hole, Slippin The Clutch (Mark Macdonald) raced around the mile in the fog.  As they turned for home, Slippin The Clutch was leading the field by a length.  Not letting anyone come to challenge, Slippin The Clutch paced to the win in an impressive 1:51.4.
