Harness racing drivers Adam Hauser and Jason Telfer scored driving triples on Sunday (6/26) during the Iowa Sired races at What Cheer, Iowa.

In race three, Iowa Sired 2 Year Old Trotters, Telfer sat behind Mykindofchrome (Macduffie), leaving from the five-hole.  As the gate folded, Mykindofchrome remained calm and trotted out for the lead as the rest of the field became rough gaited.  Up by thirteen lengths at the quarter, Mykindofchrome set the fractions in 35.3, 1:10.0 and 1:44.0.

As he turned for home, Mykindofchrome had to hold off a late move by stablemate, Star Force (John Saner).  Trotting across the line in 2:18.3, Mykindofchrome gave Telfer his first victory on the 15 race card.

The next division on Iowa Sired 2 Year Old Trotters took to the track in race five. Adam Hauser took Helens Fantasy (Wilson Wyoming) straight to the top from the four-hole.  Cutting the mile in 34.4, 1:08.3 and 1:42.0, Helens Fantasy was all alone as she topped the stretch.  Crossing the finish line in 2:15.1, Hauser and Helens Fantasy picked up the win.

Broadway Teresa (Lukas Hall) and Hauser paired up in race eight, Iowa Sired 3 Year Old Trotters.  From post position four to the front, Broadway Teresa led the fillies around the track.   Quarters in 34.1, 1:06.3 and 1:38.2, Broadway Teresa held a commanding lead as she made for the finish line.  With the mile in 2:09.4, Broadway Teresa secured her win and Hauser’s second.

Iowa Sired 3 Year Old Trotting colts saw action in race ten.  Hauser had the lines on Princeofthefield (Broadway Or Bust) from the three-hole.  As in his previous race strategy, Hauser asked for trot and Princeofthefield responded.  Ahead by three lengths to the quarter in 32.1, Princeofthefield held court on the track.  To the half in 1:03.3 and three-quarters in 1:35 flat, Princeofthefield had nothing but followers as he trotted to the wire.  Crowning Hauser with the driving triple, Princeofthefield was triumphant in 2:06.2.

Telfer, looking for his second win of the day, competed with Secretive Kate (Macduffie) in the last division of Iowa Sired 3 Year Old Trotters, race twelve.  Leaving the gate from the three-hole, Secretive Kate held off a determined leaver, Merly (Adam Hauser) to take the lead.  As Merly made an unfortunate break, Secretive Kate took full advantage of having the lead to herself.  Fractions set in 32.0, 1:03.1 and 1:34.3, it was no secret the Secretive Kate was looking for the finish line.  Up by 30 lengths, Telfer and Secretive Kate celebrated the win, trotting in 2:08 flat.

In the closer, an Iowa Sired 2 Year Old Trot NW of $3000 in 2022, Nuthernutterbutter (Spectator K) and Telfer raced from the three-hole.  Letting Really Late Date (Airman Batten), driven by Chad Svendsen, take the lead, Nuthernutterbutter settled nicely in for a pocket trip.  Waiting to make a move until the stretch, Nuthernuttrbutter pulled to challenge Really Late Date as they raced to the wire.  In the photo finish, Nuthernutterbutter grabbed the win and the driving triple for Telfer, race time in 2:22.0.

Iowa harness racing resumes for two days of racing at Humboldt, Iowa on Sunday (7/3) and Monday (7/4).  Post time for both days will be 12:30pm.
