‘Twas the week before Christmas and harness tracks were racing

Iowa grads competing, holiday purse checks they were chasing

Almostamillionaire (Ryan Stahl) , on Monday (12/21) at Northfield Park

Competed in race three, racing from the four-hole at dark

Third at the quarter, third at the half

Parked second at three-quarters, what did he have left

Heads apart, round the last turn, pacing for home

In a tight photo finish, Almostamillionaire, second by a nose.

Monticello Raceway on Tuesday (12/22), Ricky B Sharp (Michael Merton) with the eight spot

As the gate folded, he got away sixth, saving his trot

Pulled out to race, and parked to the half

Ricky B Sharp, still sitting smartly, the field he did track

Down by a length as they rounded the turn

Trotting a last quarter in 30.2, the track he did burn

Stretching out a neck, race timed in 2:03.2

Big win for Paul Liles, Ricky B Sharp right on cue

Over at The Meadows, CR Valentine and Brady Brown in race twelve,

From the two-hole to fourth, not satisfied with themselves

Asking for trot, CR Valentine felt pressed

The rest of the mile, she showed she was best

Leading at the half in 59.2 and still up at three-quarter in 1:29.4

Dashing away home, picked up the win, in 1:59.4

In the closer, race thirteen, What Ya Thinkin (Jim Pantaleano) drew the three

As he raced from the back, What Ya Thinkin hit the board third, in 1:54.3

The Meadows on Wednesday (12/23), from the far outside raced Lone Star Tap (Dave Palone)

As the gate folded, he got away fourth, racing hard to make up the gap

Second on the outside, by two lengths as they rounded the last turn

Trotting down the lane, Lone Star Tap, his mile in 1:58.1, finishing third

Race seven saw Tony Hall driving Supreme Dumpling from the three

Not getting away from the gate, the field, they could see

Pacing home in a quick 28.3, 1:54.2 her race was done

Supreme Dumpling hitting the board third, for Stable Jenson

On to the ninth, Oh Toodles (Dan Rawlings) did race

From the three-hole to sit third most of the mile, with plenty of pace

A length back in second, as Oh Toodles rounded the bend

Placing second in 1:54.1, by his head he did extend

On Christmas Eve (12/24), while waiting for Santa to show

Itsonlymoneyhoney (Tyler Buter) had the rail, race thirteen, at The Meadows

After the start, and parked to the quarter

Itsonlymoneyhoney drove to the rail, to make the race shorter

With the lead at the half and around to the stretch

Looking to make his lifetime earnings enrich

A last quarter brush of 29 flat

A third win straight, 1:57.4 in fact

It’s been a long year, Iowa grads have been good

Racing restrictions and social distancing have all been withstood

Loving our horses, and grateful for our fans for this we did write

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and to all a Good Night
